James Duddridge, Member of Parliament for Rochford and Southend East has questioned the Government on the effectiveness of the Home Information Pack.
In an Oral Parliamentary question to the Department for Communities and Local Government, James highlighted the result of a recent survey by the National Association of Estate Agents, in which 89% of property professionals concluded that the new changes for Home Information Packs imposed on 6th April 2009, were not beneficial to buyers.
In his question, James asked why we should believe what the Government say and not the professionals.
“Home Information Packs have been a disaster ever since they were first introduced. They slow down the home buying and selling process and these changes introduced in April simply waste more time and money.”
“I hope that the Government listen to the advice of professionals who believe that this unpopular scheme does not benefit buyers. The Government need to take steps to reinvigorate the property market and good place to start would be to abolish the Home Information Pack.”
