James visits Southend casino ahead of re-opening

James Duddridge MP visited a Southend casino on Friday, 24th July, to see first-hand the social distancing measures that had been put in place ahead of the venue's re-opening next week.

On Wednesday (9th July 2020), the Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak unveiled new measures to support the economy as part of its ongoing response to the Covid-19 pandemic, including a 15% VAT cut for hospitality and tourism, as well as a new "Eat Out to Help Out" scheme. 

James slams 20mph plan for Southend's roads

Proposals to turn all of Southend’s residential streets into 20mph zones have been branded “ludicrous” by one of the town’s MPs. 

James Duddridge, MP for Rochford and Southend East, described the idea as “a colossal waste of money at the expense of Southend residents”.
