South Essex College is set to open one of nine new Institutes of Technology across the country to train people for technical careers that will plug skills gaps.
The announcement, which has been welcomed by James Duddridge MP, forms part of the Government’s skills revolution to level up opportunities for everyone and boost the economy.
Institutes of Technology are unique collaborations between employers, colleges and universities that specialise in offering high-quality Higher Technical Education and training in subjects such as advanced manufacturing, digital and cyber security, aerospace, and healthcare.
South Essex College is one of nine new sites chosen.
Commenting, James, MP for Rochford and Southend East, said:
“I am delighted South Essex College has been chosen as one of nine new Institutes of Technology sites across the country.
“This new facility will help deliver the skilled workforce our businesses need and get more local people into jobs closer to home.
“I look forward to visiting our very own Institute of Technology once it is up and running.”
