James Duddridge, MP for Rochford and Southend East, and Southend West MP David Amess will be out on the streets again this weekend along with a host of volunteers to support Cllr Mark Flewitt with his re-election campaign.
James, David and the volunteers from across Southend will be out in St Laurence talking to voters and delivering leaflets, to send out the message that Mark Flewitt has been an excellent councillor and will continue his good work if he is re-elected on 1st May.
The action day follows hot on the heels of the success of a similar day in Thorpe last Saturday, when around 35 volunteers joined James, David and Cllr Sally Carr on the streets of Thorpe to assist with Sally’s campaign.
Speaking today in support of Cllr Flewitt, James said:
“Cllr Flewitt has proven himself to be an asset to the residents of St Laurence and I’m going out on Saturday to let people know that he works hard as their elected representative on the Council.”
Discussing the success of the campaign action days across the town, James said:
“David Amess and I are delighted that volunteers from across Southend are coming together for a targeted campaign in the run-up to the local elections on 1st May.
“This Labour government is doing atrocious damage to our local neighbourhoods, the county of Essex and the country as a whole. We need a unified response from residents, councillors and MPs to work towards establishing a Conservative Government. Only then might we find some common sense being brought to the national government’s relationship with our excellent Conservative-led local council.
“In the meantime, we need to make sure that the Council remains strong and work together to ensure that the Conservative candidates in May are successful at the ballot box.”
David Amess MP, whose Parliamentary constituency covers the St Laurence ward, said:
“I think it is very important that local residents are made aware of what has happened concerning refuse disposal and gypsy sites.”
