James Duddridge MP has been quizzed on the return of schools, the lifting of lockdown, and dog-friendly beaches during a recent Q&A session held online.

The MP answered questions from residents virtually, as an alternative way of engaging with the public during the current lockdown restrictions.

During the Q&A, James spoke about his support for the return of schools next week, saying that it would be good for both children's education and their mental health.

The Member of Parliament for Rochford and Southend East also backed the Prime Minister's roadmap out of lockdown. He told viewers:

"No one wants to be in lockdown, no one wants it to take a day longer, but we must make sure that we come back slowly enough so we don't fall back into a crisis situation of another lockdown."

Residents we able to take part by submitted questions via social media and by email.

Commenting afterwards, James said:

“Lockdown means I’m not currently able to get out and about to talk to people, so I have been looking at different ways that enables me to still hear the views of residents.

“One idea was to hold this online Q&A - which we've dubbed 'Ask Duddridge' - and I think it worked really well. There was a broad range of questions on both local and national issues and it is something I’ll definitely be looking to do again.”
