James Duddridge MP is hoping his latest fitness challenge will help show the positive impact staying active can have on a person’s mental health.
James has signed up for the RED January challenge, which encourages everyone, of all abilities, to get active every day during the month of January and raise funds for the charity Sport in Mind.
The MP for Rochford and Southend East said:
“January can be a tough month, and given the national lockdown, it’s important we all keep ourselves and our minds active. Exercise is not only good for our physical health, but it can have a profoundly positive impact on our mental health too, so I would really encourage everyone who can to give it a go.
“Personally, I’m aiming to go for a run every day throughout the month, but there are plenty of other activities you can do indoors if running is not for you. If you are new to exercise, the NHS website has lots of information about how to get fit for free. It is, however, important to remember that any activity you choose complies with the current coronavirus restrictions.”
Outdoor exercise is permitted during the national lockdown, however, it should be limited to once per day with your household, support bubble or, one other person and you should not travel outside your local area.
