James Duddridge, MP for Rochford and Southend East, is delighted to announce that young football players from Kursaal will be taking on Clapton FC in East London tomorrow, in a rare opportunity to play against a semi-professional side.
The friendly will see the Kursaal Peoples Foundation pitted against Clapton FC of the Essex Senior League at their ground in East London – with the aim of providing football trials for youngsters from Kursaal who may never otherwise have played at a high level. Kick off will be tomorrow, Thursday 3rd April, at 7.30pm.
Blaine Robin, Conservative Candidate for Kursaal Ward and the Chairman of Kursaal Peoples Foundation, said:
“I am proud that opportunities have been created to provide a showcase for local talented individuals who would otherwise be overlooked. When I first set up the team the aim was always to redress the balance of the negative stereotypes that goes with the name Kursaal. We have several youngsters who’ll be able to have an experience of a lifetime thanks to the change given to us by Clapton FC.
“Thanks to the efforts of all the families and young people, and support from our Life President James Duddridge MP, we can have a great day out playing against a semi-professional team.”
James Duddridge said:
“Blaine has worked really hard with young people in the Kursaal area and the game at Clapton FC is a great opportunity for the players of the Kursaal Peoples Foundation team. When I joined in with one of their training sessions they very much kept me on my toes – I’m sure they’ll do the same with the Clapton players!”
Kursaal Peoples Foundation will also be organizing a session in partnership with Piers Sports FC on Saturday 5th April between 9am and 12 noon at Southchurch Park. The event is free, open to all age groups and boys and girls are welcome. The foundation has recently applied to the Football Foundation to help fund free coaching for young people in Kursaal.
Anyone interested in joining the team or attending a free coaching session can contact Blaine Robin on 07813 853 096.
