James Duddridge, Member of Parliament for Rochford and Southend East, encourages residents of Southend to complete their canvass forms to ensure they are registered to vote.
Canvass forms are being sent to every household to ensure the Register of Electors contains the up to date details of all residents who are eligible to vote.
The register, which is published on 1st December 2011 will be used to compile a list of eligible voters for the Local Government elections in may 2012.
James said
“It is so simple to register to vote. All you need to do is complete the form that is being delivered to your house. If you are happy with the details on the form then you can confirm them by using the free telephone or internet service.
“I urge all residents to complete this form, this will enable you to vote in the Local Government elections in May 2012.”
If information on the form needs to be amended, the form needs to be returned by post, using the envelope provided.
If residents are planning to move home around October 15th 2011, do not complete the form at the current address, complete the form at the new property and leave the form for the residents occupying the property that they are vacating.
