James Duddridge, Member of Parliament for Rochford and Southend East has raised the issue of the volatile political situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo, in the House of Commons.
As well as speaking out for issues closer to home, James also likes to speak in the House about worldwide issues and frequently asks Minister’s questions in the House of Commons. James takes particular notice of conflicts in Africa, having previously lived on the continent.
After reading reports that innocent civilians are being caught up in the fighting, James wanted to ask the Minister about the effectiveness of UN aid in the region.
James said:
“As well as issues in the UK and in Rochford and Southend East, I also take a great interest in worldwide issues, particularly ones such as this where civilians are put at risk.”
“I am glad that the Minister acknowledged that the highest priority was to protect civilians and I hope that the Foreign and Commonwealth office will continue to work closely with the UN, to limit the number civilians caught up in the disputes.”
