James Duddridge, Member of Parliament for Rochford and Southend East, has been elected as Chairman of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Africa.
Established in 2003, the APPG for Africa is one of Parliament’s most active All Party Groups with 180 members from all parties from both the House of Commons and the House of Lords. The Group works to raise the profile of African and pan-African issues, such as foreign affairs, international development, and business. Recent focus has been placed on the role of the African Union, China’s influence in Africa, best practice for businesses operating in Africa, and monitoring the relationship between development and democracy in Africa.
James is looking forward to working more closely with the APPG for Africa during his term as Chairman as he takes a keen interest in Africa and policies that affects the continent, in particular Zimbabwe, having lived in Africa for 10 years working in The Ivory Coast and Botswana.
